Tips for Choosing the Best Cake

SHARE

With the wedding season approaching, many couples and their families will have hundreds of decisions to make before their big day. One of the tasks that should be at the top of your to-do list is ordering a wedding cake, because the selection process can be much more complicated than you think.

Experienced bakeries make thousands of wedding cakes and none are quite the same. Sure, some may look the same, but grooms and their families are always looking for something unique and with good reason. This is a big day and we understand that. So when ordering a wedding cake, no matter where you buy it, there are a few things to consider and plan for.

First of all, how big is your wedding going to be? How many are at the party and how many guests will you have? As a rule, the larger the wedding, the more ceremonial the cutting of the cake will be. Most of the cakes we make are real edible ingredients, but this may not be practical in a large wedding, so you will have to order separate boxes for wedding cakes as well. Otherwise, your wedding cake can be a big problem trying to serve all the guests. This is not a very pretty place.

Secondly, cake design is a very personal choice and you will need to visit the bakery ahead of time. I recommend contacting your local baker at least one month in advance to schedule an appointment and discuss a low sugar cake delivery date. When a couple and their family visit us, we show them a set of designs we've created in the past, as well as some of the latest creations we can make for them. Often we create designs from photographs (or even photographs from magazines or books) brought by the clients themselves. This is a great idea, and we really appreciate that the customer has something specific in mind. Together we can end the first meeting by thinking about the scent, color and fondant base, as well as the overall design of the cake.

In addition to the first two points, the actual structure of the cake will have an impact on the logistics of the wedding day especially if the couple wants a tiered wedding cake. If the cake is easy to transport, a family member can come and pick it up on the wedding day. However, tiered pillar or pillar cakes are usually delivered in pieces and as part of our service we can deliver and prepare them on site. This is why it is so important to reserve your wedding cake in advance so that we can ensure that your wedding cake arrives on time and looks impressive.
