SHARE

Orthopedic surgery is a surgical process that is done on the musculoskeletal system, which comprises of your bones, ligaments, joints, muscles, and tendons. There are three different types of orthopedic surgery. Orthopedic Surgery In Turkey are now minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries have less pain and quicker recovery times.

Commonly performed orthopedic surgeries

1.      Joint replacement surgeries

These are the surgeries that is performed to replace a joint with a prosthetic and is considered as the most common orthopedic surgeries. Some common joint replacements surgeries are of knee and hip. After these surgeries, many best orthopedic surgeons monitor patients often for complication signs as these surgeries have a considerable amount of risk.

Some common complications are that the implant may fail, or else the materials making up the implant can cause a toxic condition known as metallosis.

2.      Debridement

It is an orthopedic surgery to remove the dead tissue and to replace it with the correct one. In many cases, bone is removed when needed.

3.      Revision joint surgery

It is another type of orthopedic surgery done when an existing implant fails, and there is a need to remove it with a new one. This type of orthopedic surgeries are often performed when the patient acquired a defective implant or an older implant and which has failed.

4.      Spinal fusion and bone fusion

It is the type of surgery done to join the vertebrae together to offer more stability to the spine and also to repair damage to the spine. Same as spine fusion, there is a bone fusion also done in which grafting is used to fuse fractured bones together to get heal as soon as possible.

5.      Soft tissue repair

It is the type of orthopedic surgery performed on torn ligaments or tendons.

6.      Internal fixation of bones

This is the type of orthopedic surgery performed to place fragments of bones together and to keep them in place with the help of screws, pins, or plates so that it can heal properly. In many cases, the device has to be remained inside the body.

7.      Osteotomy

It is an orthopedic surgery which is done to help correct the bone deformity in children to make them grow properly.

Common areas in the human body where surgery is required

       Ankles
This body part generally has a sports injury, and injuries are on sites where workers fall from height or are exposed to trip hazards.
       Wrists
This is the most common body part where surgery is performed in is done to release of carpal tunnel or else a fracture of the distal radius.
       Spine
It is another body part where many spinal operations are performed, such as spinal fusions, laminectomies as well as an intervertebral disc.
       Hips
Hips are also a common place where surgeries are performed to repair the femoral neck or to replace the joint or a trochanteric fracture.
       Shoulders
In this body part, arthroscopic surgery is performed to repair the rotator cuff or to excise the distal clavicle as well as to decompress the shoulder.
       Knees
It is the most common body joint where knee procedures is done to repair the MCL and ACL. Total knee replacement is also a prevalent surgery for this part.

Difference between Arthroscopic or Traditional procedures

Mostly all orthopedic surgery in Turkey are performed traditionally or else with the help of arthroscope. There are many common conditions for which open surgery is done, but for the majority conditions, Arthroscopic or Traditional procedures are taken.

Traditional surgery is a process that is more invasive and occurs with considerably longer recovery time in comparison to arthroscopic processes, as in these incisions are made to parts of the body involved.

On the other hand, the arthroscopic process of orthopedic surgery are less invasive; however, they also have complications as they are not without risk. Patients can experience complications, including infection of the surgical site along with surgical errors.

Orthopedic surgeons in Turkey work into new joint replacement techniques that include resurfacing of the hip as well as shoulder, and its biggest benefit is that patients have much more of their original bone than a total replacement. Nowadays, orthopedic surgery in Turkey is done with many other different materials for replacements counting metals, plastics as well as ceramics.
